20th Anniversary

Ken and Becky celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on August 12th. Here's a blast from the past!

Brian at Camp

Brian attended 2 scout camps this summer (CA & MI). These are pictures from the one in California. He had a great time!

Warren Community Pool

We stopped by the Warren Community Pool! It is an outstanding pool and thanks to our wonderful friend Danielle Harrison, we went for 1/2 price! Not many pictures though because a. my camera ran out of battery and b. we had too much fun to take pictures!

Back to Niagara Falls

Jason, Heather, and Mickey wanted to see Niagara Falls so back we went!

Mackinac Island

On the very next day we visited Mackinac Island. Going to this island is like going back in time. There are no motor vehicles on the Island. Mackinac has a Fort with exhibitions and historical buildings. The Grand Hotel (featured in the movie "Somewhere in Time") caters a lunch at the fort and you are treated to wonderful food as well as an amazing view. Of course the most famous thing about Mackinac Island is their fudge. The smells of fudge fill the air when on the island. We took jet boats over to the Island and spent most of our day at the Fort. Then we bought some fudge (of course!) and headed home. Long but wonderful day! http://www.mackinacisland.org/

The Soo Locks and the UP of Michigan

This was a monster day! We saw the Soo Locks, the Point Iroquois Lighthouse on Lake Superior and the beautiful Tahquamenon Falls.

TACOM Family Day

TACOM, which stands for Tank Command, has what they call an Organizational Day every year. They open the base for friends and family of the employees. Becky's Dad is an employee of TACOM so we all went to the event. It was a lot of fun. We had a tour of various vehicles, there was lots of fun activities for the kids and we took in a magic show. Here's some photos:

Detroit Zoo

We took the whole posse to the Historic Detroit Zoo.

Greenfield Village, Detroit Michigan

We made a couple of trips to Greenfield Village in Detroit. It's a very unique site. Many historic buildings have been transported to this site including Edisons workshop. Characters walk around the town and interact with you. There are some shows that are fun to watch. We took in the show with Orville and Wilbur Wright where they talked about their first flight with their sister. There's so much to tell but I'll let you see the pictures instead!

Palmyra, New York and Niagara Falls, Ont

Our first trip from Detroit was to drive through Canada via Sarnia. We stopped at Niagara Falls for some quick pictures. Then we found a Friendly's on the way to the Hill Cumorrah Pageant in Palmyra New York. Friendly's is a favorite of mine from my Maryland days. We were running late and everything seemed to go wrong but it all turned out fine. After dinner we drove to Palmyra (thank you little GPS machine)and went to the Hill Cumorrah site which is owned by our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We were able to find parking and good seats very quickly. The kids had a chance to meet some cast members. They had a nice chat with the man who played Abinadi, who happens to be Brian and Kevin's favorite prophet from the Book of Mormon. The show was spectacular!

We're back from Michigan!

Becky, Brian and Kevin have returned from their trip to Michigan and we want to share photos. We had a wonderful time! We spent time with Grandma and Grandpa Hansen, Aunt Mary, Uncle Jason and their families. We went on several trips including Niagara Falls, Palmyra NY, Mackinac Island, The UP (eh!), back to Niagara and other sites around Detroit. This first bunch of photos is just general "home in Detroit" pics. We did so much that I need a vacation from my vacation!
